🏆 Favourite: Brazil

Dorival Júnior has brought tactical clarity to a Brazil side that underperformed at the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 Copa América. Without Neymar — who may miss the tournament through injury — the creative burden falls on Rodri's ability to control games from deep and Vinícius Jr's explosive wide play. Raphinha's return to form at Arsenal adds a second attacking dimension that makes Brazil's front line genuinely difficult to defend against. The midfield of Bruno Guimarães and Casemiro provides the defensive platform, but it is the attacking quality — particularly the pace and directness of the front three — that makes Brazil clear Group C favourites.

🌟 Dark Horse: Morocco

Morocco's 2022 World Cup semi-final was the greatest story of the tournament — and perhaps the decade. In 2026, they return as a better side. Regragui has had two years to develop his squad, Youssef En-Nesyri is scoring at a record rate for Sevilla, and the spine of the team — Achraf Hakimi, Sofyan Amrabat, and Youssef En-Nesyri — is experienced at the highest level. The question is whether they can maintain the same emotional intensity that drove them through 2022. If they can, Brazil should be worried about top spot.

⚔️ Key Battle: Morocco vs Brazil

The fixture that defines Group C. Morocco's defensive organisation and aerial threat from set pieces against Brazil's attacking creativity is the most compelling tactical contest in the group stage. Regragui's side defended brilliantly against the world's best attacks in 2022 and have the same tools in 2026. Brazil's young midfield will be tested by Morocco's press and physicality in ways they won't have experienced at this tournament.

❓ Key Question: Can Scotland compete at this level?

Scotland's qualification for only their second World Cup — and first since 1998 — is a genuine achievement. But the step from European qualification to competing with Brazil and Morocco is enormous. Andy Robertson's final major tournament gives the campaign an emotional arc, but Steve Clarke needs his side to be defensively perfect against both Brazil and Morocco if they are to have any chance of advancing.

Key Players

🇧🇷 Brazil

Vinícius Jr — Real Madrid's superstar winger, arguably the most explosive attacking talent at the tournament. His pace, skill, and eye for goal make him Brazil's primary match-winning threat. At 25, he is at his peak.

Rodri — Manchester City's midfield anchor, the player who makes Brazil tick. His reading of the game and ability to control tempo give Brazil a platform that previous Brazil teams lacked. Winner of the 2024 Ballon d'Or.

🇲🇦 Morocco

Achraf Hakimi — PSG's marauding right-back, one of the most complete full-backs in world football. His attacking runs provide Morocco with width and a secondary source of goals.

Youssef En-Nesyri — Sevilla's prolific striker with over 150 goals for the club. His aerial ability and finishing make him a constant threat from crosses and set pieces — Morocco's primary route to goal.

Hakim Ziyech — Galatasaray's creative force, Ziyech's set-piece delivery and vision are essential to Morocco's attacking play. His 2022 performance against Spain — two assists — showed his tournament pedigree.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland

Andy Robertson — Liverpool's vice-captain, Scotland's most capped outfield player, and the heartbeat of the national team. Robertson's overlapping runs and quality crossing give Scotland an attacking outlet that most teams in this group will struggle to handle.

John McGinn — Aston Villa's versatile midfielder, McGinn's energy, tackling, and late runs into the box are the engine of Scotland's press. His emotional leadership is as important as his tactical contribution.

🇭🇹 Haiti

Biological Unknown — Haiti qualified through CONCACAF Nations League, beating Canada in a two-legged play-off that shocked North American football. Their squad is built around players from MLS and European lower leagues, with limited top-level tournament experience. They are genuine underdogs in this group — but their hunger and physical intensity could surprise teams who underestimate them.

Prediction

1st: Brazil 🇧🇷

The five-time champions have enough quality across the pitch to top this group comfortably. Dorival Júnior's tactical discipline and the individual brilliance of Vinícius Jr and Rodri make them clear group winners.

2nd: Morocco 🇲🇦

The 2022 semi-finalists are a better side in 2026. En-Nesyri's goals and Regragui's tactical organisation carry them to second place — and potentially a much more favourable Round of 16 draw.

3rd: Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Robertson's final tournament. They will be competitive and organised, but the step up to face Brazil and Morocco in a World Cup group is too big. They will make one of those two work for the win.

4th: Haiti 🇭🇹

First World Cup appearance in decades. Haiti are learning at this level and will be competitive in patches — but the gap in squad quality is significant. A valuable experience for Haitian football.
